Marks and Spencer Turkey office was established in 2005 and is now responsible for sourcing Menswear, Womenswear, Kidswear, Lingerie and Homeware products for Marks and Spencer UK Headquarter in London Waterside.
The main responsibility of this regional office is to source, develop, plan and manage textile and home production around Turkey, Europe, Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan. Our team which started with 15 employees in 2005 has grown to 80 employees in region at a consistent pace.
Our structure is made up of Merchandising (Clothing, Homeware, Operations), Technology (Quality, Fabric, Garment, Product, Plan A), Ethical Compliance (Ethical Compliance and Auditing), and Supply Chain teams, supported by Human Resources and Finance departments.
Our office is located in Yesilkoy-Istanbul.
We are looking for a “ Assistant Garment Technologist ” provides administrative support to the Garment Technology Departmen t.
What is the purpose of the job?
• Work to the garment technology strategy in line with SO and Head Office technical strategies
• Ensure suppliers in the region understand M&S garment performance and quality requirements and the products delivered from garment manufacturers meet the M&S required standards for construction, fit and quality.
• Assisting garment suppliers in understanding the packs where required.
• Communicate size and fit standards across all suppliers (Blocks and Grades)
• Issue and follow up tests, wearer trials and etc where required.
• Assisting to Garment Technology Team on screening of fit samples, contract seals before sending to UK and approval when required/needed
• Attending Risk Assessment meetings with relevant Garment Technologist.
• Training of garment makers to complete Risk Analysis forms.
• Consult manufacturers during development processes and troubleshoot when necessary
• Follow High Profile Products closely and ensure all steps of the development and production process are in line with M&S quality expectation and critical path.
• Ensure CRTM rates as per the target of each individual department are being worked with and actions are being taken for further orders and communication is done with key people of suppliers.
• System training for suppliers (as appropriate – submission procedures)
• Following and chasing the suppliers on uploading mandatory documents into PLM.
• Manage the projects given by Garment Technology Manager in the agreed timeline and give regular updates during the process.
• Propose alternative garment engineering to reduce costs while maintaining quality.
• Research and implementation of Innovation into products
• Contribute into business Plan A activities and targets
• Work closely and coordinate with other functions of technology and members of your division
• Conducting assignments at the discretion of Garment Technology Manager
What technical knowledge and skills do we need?
• Technical qualification in garment technology, preferably to a degree level.
• 2 – 5 years working experience in a related field for the UK / European market.
• Knowledge of pattern making & fitting
• Familiar with the UK Retail industry & or European garment buying processes.
• Good level of communication skills in English with knowledge of technical terms are required and a good level of both written/spoken local languages considered advantageous.
• Ability to build strong relationships with Head Office, Sourcing office and suppliers
