About the Role – Purchasing & Category Manager (Food)
We are seeking a results-driven Purchasing & Category Manager with a strong background in food procurement to lead and optimize our purchasing operations. This role is at the heart of our sourcing and supply strategy—ensuring that we stock the right products, at the right time, and at the right cost.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead the end-to-end purchasing process for food categories—sourcing, negotiating, ordering, and supplier performance management.
· Define the product assortment aligned with category strategies; introduce high-potential items and phase out underperformers.
· Monitor sales trends and stock levels to ensure optimal inventory and avoid shortages or overstock.
· Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure favorable terms, pricing, quality, and reliability.
· Identify and mitigate supply chain and procurement risks, while capitalizing on opportunities for cost savings and innovation.
· Partner with sales and marketing teams to align procurement with sales strategies and market needs.
· Visit suppliers and customers to stay ahead of trends and gather insights that support smart buying decisions.
· Analyze category performance metrics—purchase volume, sales, margins, and inventory turnover—to drive profitability.
· Lead purchasing initiatives and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve sourcing efficiency and consistency.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
· Minimum 5 years of experience in food purchasing and procurement
· Fluent in English (written and spoken)
· Proven track record in vendor negotiations and contract management
· Strong commercial mindset with excellent cost analysis skills
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Highly organized with attention to detail and the ability to multitask
· Strategic thinker with a proactive, solution-oriented approach
· Experience leading cross-functional procurement or sourcing projects
· A genuine passion for food and gastronomy is a plus
