Marks and Spencer Turkey office was established in 2005 and is now responsible for sourcing Menswear, Womenswear, Kidswear, Lingerie and Homeware products for Marks and Spencer UK Headquarter in London Waterside.
The main responsibility of this regional office is to source, develop, plan and manage textile and home production around Turkey, Europe, Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan. Our team which started with 15 employees in 2005 has grown to 80 employees in region at a consistent pace.
Our structure is made up of Merchandising (Clothing, Homeware, Operations), Technology (Quality, Fabric, Garment, Product, Plan A), Ethical Compliance (Ethical Compliance and Auditing), and Supply Chain teams, supported by Human Resources and Finance departments.
Our office is located in Yesilkoy-Istanbul.
We are looking for a “ Technologist- Raw Materials (Socks&Hosiery) ” for the Raw Materials Technology Department.
What is the purpose of the job?
• Working to Raw Materials Team & Hosiery/Socks department strategy in line with Sourcing Office and Head Office technical & business strategies
• Meeting the expectations of the sourcing briefs from the Business Units in terms of value and quality
• Ensure the suppliers and mills understand and meet M&S quality and safety requirements for hosiery/socks products and producers; develop action plans to bring these to acceptable quality, environmental and safety standards.
• Work together with RM Team to support supply chain transparency and traceability including yarn and product wet processing unit’s mapping and auditing.
• Assist product manufacturing units in interpreting M&S technical packs and ensure hosiery/socks products meet the M&S required/agreed standard for aesthetics and performance.
• Screening (fitting, technical assessment) of buying/fit samples, contract seals and rack samples against the tech packs before sending to UK and giving approval when required/needed.
• Follow up all system updates and approvals as a part of yarn/product development approval process.
• Screening of all technical (pp forms, tests) & bulk submissions (including colour) of hosiery/socks products before sending to UK and giving approval when required/needed
• Carrying out pre-production / risk analysis reviews (priority basis) and agreeing required testing standards and the frequency of tests
• Issue management and follow up on AQL failures
• Contribute to KPIs with the preparation of hosiery/socks quality and hit rate reports
• Contribute into business Plan A (sustainability) and Innovation activities and targets.
What technical knowledge and skills do we need?
• Technical qualification in Fabric/Product Technology, preferably to a degree level.
• 3 – 10 years working experience in hosiery/socks market working with the UK / European customers
• Technical knowledge and experience in hosiery/socks fitting and technical assessment of these products
• Ability to build strong relationships with Head Office, Sourcing office and suppliers
• Good level of communication skills in English with knowledge of technical terms about hosiery/socks products
• Good skills on computer systems and programmes used for business
• Strong communication and influencing skills
• Work as part of a team in Sourcing Office.
